Game Development World Championship Award Winners Announced

The Game Development World Championship is an association that recognizes all types of game developers, whether they are professional designers, amateurs or even students. The winners of all nine award categories were announced today, and they include at least one big win for Nintendo Switch owners.

The 2021 Pro Console Game of the Year award went to Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo, from the game studio Galla. Kulebra is slated to come to the Nintendo Switch in 2024, but a demo is available now via Steam if you can’t wait that long. A brief synopsis of the game is as follows:

Professional PC Game of the Year:
Lost Twins 2 by Playdew from Pakistan “Lost twins 2 is a blend of sliding and interactive puzzle elements to create a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.”

Professional Console Game of the Year:
Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo by Galla, a small video game studio made up of Pavel Lara, Paulo Lara and Zach Striefel from the United States. “A dead snake with a heart of gold embarks on a journey to find its purpose in a world where the same day plays on repeat.”

Hobby Game of the Year:
If On A Winter’s Night, Four Travelers from Dead Idle Games, the team consists of Laura Hunt and Thomas Möhring from Germany. “If On A Winter’s Night, Four Travelers is a point-and-click narrative adventure with horror elements that explores the stories of four different characters in a masquerade ball set aboard a train in the late 1920s.”

Mobile Game of the Year:
Svoboda 1945: Liberation by Charles Games from the Czech Republic. A studio behind the award-winning game Bombing 1942. “Svoboda 1945: Liberation is a unique blend of adventure gameplay, full-screen video interviews with real actors, and historically accurate interactive memories of people who lived through the chaos of the sequels from World War 2.

Best VR game:

Student Game Prize:

Fan Favorite:
pureya by Majorariatto from Spain. “pureya is a collection of arcade mini-games that are played with only 2 buttons and randomly switch from one to the other every 10 seconds.”
